The Joseph Fiore Painting Prize
JOSEPH A. FIORE (1925 – 2008) was an Influential painter and teacher. His experience as a student and later teacher (1946 to 1954) at the historic Black
Mountain College, a progressive experimental college
based on arts in North Carolina, was a time of influence, experimentation, and creative growth. Joseph Fiore’s diverse educational experience at Black Mountain was a major influence on his painting career.

Three Painting Prize winners will be juried by a prominent member in the Maine arts community. Each prize winner will receive $1000 and a small catalogue that will include: a selection of their submitted works, educational background, artist and juror’s statement.

Must arrange for delivery of one of the (8) submitted paintings of your choice for a group exhibition at The Gallery at Rolling Acres, at the Joseph A. Fiore Art Center at Rolling Acres Farm Artist Residency Program. Art Center website link:

Must be an Art/Fine Arts undergraduate, graduate, or recent graduate (1 year) from a Maine institution. If attending institutions in New England, students must confirm in their statement, a Maine connection: resident, seasonal resident, family, meaningful experience or interest.

SUBMISSION OF PAINTINGS: May 1, 2018 Requirements: digital images of (8) paintings - (minimum 300 dpi) with statement (2 to 3 paragraphs) describing ideas, developmental path, and influences of submitted works. Submit through application site.
